About KCSU

A Little More About KCSU

Student-powered radio, professionally delivered

Our Mission

To train students to collaboratively operate a radio station that delivers and creates content that informs and inspires our listeners.

Student-Powered Excellence

KCSU programming is proudly curated and produced exclusively by Colorado State University students. The leadership team is made up of 18 part-time student staff that manages everything from promotions, to video production, to audio engineering. The voices you hear on KCSU are CSU-student DJs who pass our 4-week training program in order to host their weekly 2-hour shows.

Diverse Programming

KCSU broadcasts underrepresented music, news, and sports coverage, and adds a new album to the music rotation nearly everyday to an ever-growing library of more than 30,000 songs. From 7 am to 3 pm daily, KCSU's DJs play this new music rotation of alternative genre-spanning music. After rotation, until 7 am the DJs host specialty programming, which can focus on a musical style, news, talk, and sports.

Pat

Pat

Station Manager

Hello! My name is Pat, I am a senior here at CSU, and KCSU's new Station Manager. I have been with KCSU since I first transferred to CSU in 2023. I started out just DJing as DJ Proto, but swiftly found an opportunity to work as the stations Broadcast Engineer for the past two years, from fall of 2023 to Spring of 2025. During my time here at KCSU I have hosted my shows: Villainous Intermissions, Orders from the Mothership, and Edge of the Atmosphere and hope to host more during my last year. I have dealt with many technical challenges in my time as Broadcast Engineer for KCSU, Including when we lost key equipment in the fall of 2023, Our Radio Tower site AC issues in the summer of 2024, and most recently the buzz heard on the broadcast this last spring. I will graduate CSU with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and Technical Communications this December, but will continue to serve as Station manager for the length of the year. I am excited to bring my skills in open communication and kindness to the role of Station Manager, and to bring forward a hard working, high performing staff. I hope to be the best I can be for my staff, the rest of RMSMC, and our community as a whole!

Sage

Sage

Programming Director

Hi! My name is Sage, I am in my senior year at CSU and the new programming director at KCSU! I have been a DJ since the fall of 2023, and since joining, KCSU has been nothing short of an incredible experience. As DJ Satchel, I have hosted various shows such as In My Bag and Being a Human Being, which have provided me with communication and technical skills to further my understanding of the journalism world. As programming director, knowing the personality and individualism of each DJ truly demonstrates what KCSU is all about! From learning new artists through the station to tabling and promoting, KCSU has delivered numerous opportunities that have helped me develop professionally and socially, and I am excited to help other DJ's and members of the community develop their skills as well!

Asher Korn

Asher Korn

Advisor & General Manager

Asher Korn, aka Emcee Asher, is known as the "Mother of Chaos" 'round these parts. An avid fan of all things radio, Korn enjoys live (and local) music, solving mechanical mysteries, high production quality, indie sleeper hits, heart-felt passion projects, editorials, collages, and plants. Korn is always open to listen to new content or hear about your day. Korn joined the Rocky Mountain Student Media professional team as the KCSU Adviser, General Manager, and Chief Operator in August 2022, but Korn has been spinning tunes at KCSU since the summer of 2018 and has previous leadership experience as the Station Manager during the turbulent 2020-2021 school year. Primary duties involve training students to collaboratively operate a radio station that delivers and creates content that informs and inspires KCSU listeners and makes sure that all paperwork for the station is filled out on time. Come visit Korn's pop-art dungeon located in the office next to the KCSU studios. The door's always open, unless it's (literally) closed. Graduating from CSU in 2021, Korn earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a concentration in Graphic Design, and a minor in Business and Entrepreneurship. Korn was previously the mid-day host for 94.3 the X (NOCO ALT), board operator for CSU Football & Basketball on Power 102.9 and alternative host/board operator for the Colorado Eagles Hockey broadcasts on 99.9 the Point, in addition to writing/photography credit for both Townsquare Media and (SALT) Magazine. Zines are a passionate hobby of Korn's and previous work has been published in Scrapped Magazine, the Deserted Zine, SIAMB Zine, and the Greyrock Review. Korn continues to make content for the original zine titled "IZOR," when there is a moment of calm to create something.
